We are promoting support and initiatives that take into consideration the life stages of non-Japanese residents.
This month, we introduce you to the International Service Staff who support non-Japanese residents at the ward office, as well as Naka International Lounge, a center for multicultural activities.
nternational Service Staff
We are on the 2nd floor of Naka Ward Office!
Here at Naka Ward Office, we are working to make information displays and application forms available in multiple languages, and to introduce a telephone-based interpretation service using tablet terminals so that anyone, regardless of nationality, can complete administrative procedures with peace of mind.
International Service Staff specializing in English and Chinese are assigned to help non-Japanese residents complete the necessary procedures so that they can live in Naka Ward without any difficulties, such as those related to moving in and out of the city, health insurance, pension, and child allowance.
What kind of work do you do?
Procedural support and interpretation services
We help people fill out application forms, etc., provide interpretation at various counters in the office, and show those visiting the ward office where they can get the advice they need.
Dissemination of information
We are involved in planning content for Naka Ward Town News, allowing us to reflect in the newsletter the issues we hear about from non-Japanese residents in the course of our daily work and the information they require.
Translation and document preparation
We translate and check documents and sample application forms prepared by each department of the ward office.
Naka International Lounge
We are located on the 1st floor of Naka Ward Office Annex!
What kind of work do you do?
Dependable consultation service
Naka International Lounge has English- and Chinese-speaking staff on hand to provide non-Japanese residents with information on daily life and consultation services in many languages.
We also offer Japanese language classes and study counseling.
Promotion of community activities
Naka International Lounge serves as a bridge to encourage non-Japanese residents participating in Japanese language classes and other activities to get involved in community cleanup activities, flower planting, and other local events.
Dispatching volunteer interpreters and translators to local communities
We dispatch multicultural volunteers to local communities to promote exchanges between non-Japanese residents and Japanese residents and communities.
Volunteers work as interpreters and translators, assist in the organization of international exchange events, support Japanese language study programs, and provide study support for young people with overseas roots.
We are looking for volunteers!
Would you like to participate in volunteer activities to support non-Japanese residents by using your language skills, etc., or to cooperate in multicultural events? People of all nationalities are welcome. If you are interested, please contact Naka International Lounge!
Places for young people with overseas roots
Rainbow Space
A place for young people of all ages with overseas roots, from elementary school to university. In order to help young people with cross-cultural backgrounds or who are experiencing difficulties or worries to expand their future potential, we provide training, hands-on activities and learning support, as well as expressive activities such as film production.
Nijiiro Tankentai
The core members of this group are graduates of a learning support class for junior high school students. They are involved in a wide range of activities that contribute to the local community, such as planning and managing Rainbow Space and using their language skills to interpret and translate materials for the benefit of others.
Multicultural community coordinators who work to bring people together and engage with the wider community!
Proporcionamos una «entrada» para ayudar a residentes no japoneses a hacerse más complicados con la comunidad local en sus vidas cotidianas en Japón. For example, we produce multilingual flyers so that non-Japanese residents can easily participate in community events such as radio gymnastics, rice cake pounding contests, and disaster drills, and act as interpreters between Japanese and non-Japanese residents. Through these activities, I believe that it is possible for local residents to approach each other in a relaxed and natural manner. For me, multicultural coexistence is all about creating a society where everyone can live happily.
Ms. Lin Jin Yuan
Regional Coordinator for Multicultural Community Affairs
